Summary:
The Linux L2 Support Engineer is responsible for managing, administering, and supporting Linux servers in enterprise environments. The role includes VM provisioning, OS administration, compliance checks, incident/change management, and proactive operational support to ensure system stability, security, and availability
Key Responsibilities:
Perform Linux OS administration including system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and uptime management.Execute image builds and OS versioning for standardized server deployments.Handle new VM provisioning, configuration, and validation as per approved build standards.Conduct OAT checks to ensure systems meet organizational and regulatory compliance requirements.Perform RPA OAT validation for automated workflows and infrastructure processes.Manage event monitoring and alert handling, ensuring timely analysis and resolution.Administer user and group management, access controls, and privilege escalation.Support and manage Veritas Cluster environments, ensuring high availability and failover readiness.Own incident management activities including root cause analysis and SLA adherence.Execute change management activities following ITIL processes and approvals.Participate in problem management and proactive problem management to prevent recurring incidents.Plan and execute OS patch management including testing, deployment, and rollback.Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement remediation actions in line with security policies.Handle operational tickets (Service Requests and Changes) for Linux servers on a monthly basis as per agreed volume.Maintain and update build and operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles.Ensure ongoing security compliance with internal policies and external regulatory standards.Manage support service coverage and assist with license management for OS and related toolsSkills & Experience:
Strong hands-on experience with Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Oracle Linux, or SUSE).Knowledge of VMware / virtualization platforms.Experience with ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management).Familiarity with security compliance, vulnerability management, and audit readiness.Experience with cluster management tools (Veritas preferred).Ability to work in 24x7 support environments and handle on-call rotations Read LessCompany Overview:
