Role Overview :
Legal Counsel - Disputes will be responsible for managing the organization's litigation portfolio across civil and criminal matters, while ensuring effective coordination with internal stakeholders and external counsel. This role requires a strong blend of litigation expertise, in-house business understanding, and oversight of intellectual property rights (IPR) matters. The incumbent will play a critical role in safeguarding the organization's legal interests, minimizing risk exposure, and enabling informed decision-making through proactive legal strategy and advisory. Given the nature of the mandate, this role demands hands-on experience in dispute resolution, the ability to operate in a fast-paced corporate environment, and strong stakeholder management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Litigation & Dispute Management
Manage end-to-end litigation (civil & criminal) including strategy, documentation, and execution. Coordinate with external counsels, brief them effectively, and track case progress. Ensure timely filings, responses, and compliance with court procedures. Maintain a centralized repository and tracking system for all ongoing cases.
2. Legal Strategy & Risk Mitigation
Evaluate legal risks and provide strategic inputs to minimize exposure. Develop dispute resolution strategies aligned with business priorities. Drive pre-litigation advisory and settlement discussions where relevant.
3. Stakeholder Management
Partner closely with internal teams including Business, Customer Experience, Finance, and Operations. Translate legal complexities into actionable business recommendations. Ensure alignment between legal approach and organizational objectives.
4. Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Oversight
Support in handling IPR-related disputes including trademark, copyright, and brand protection matters. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on infringement and enforcement actions.
5. Compliance & Governance
Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements across disputes. Support in building internal SOPs and frameworks for dispute management. Provide periodic updates and dashboards on litigation status and risk exposure.
Knowledge and Qualification Requirements :
LLB/LLM from a reputed law school.Prior experience at a
reputed law firm, with exposure to dispute resolution.
2-3 years of in-house experience managing litigation portfolios is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of litigation processes, documentation, and court procedures. Exposure to
IPR matters is an added advantage. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
