Product Owner - Energy & Building Systems
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Product Owner who understands energy & buildings systems - not just as abstract systems, but as operational environments where energy costs are real, downtime is costly, and occupant experience matters. You will be the bridge between the facilities world and the engineering team building Aqueduct.
This role requires genuine domain depth. If you have spent time with facility managers, energy auditors, BMS operators, or HVAC vendors - and you can translate those conversations into sharp product requirements - you are the person we are looking for.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
Product requirements and feature roadmap for the Aqueduct platformAI-Augmented Product Features:Define and prioritise AI use cases: predictive fault detection, energy forecasting, natural language facility queriesWork with engineering to shape how AI/ML outputs are surfaced to operators in the twin interfaceEvaluate AI feature performance using domain-grounded metrics, not just model accuracyDigital Twin Product Definition:
Define what the digital twin should represent at each stage of deploymentSpecify twin fidelity levels: schema, sensor mapping, control loop integrationDrive decisions on twin use cases: predictive maintenance, energy simulation, what-if analysisDomain Translation:
Convert real-world facility problems - HVAC inefficiency, energy spikes, poor IAQ - into product featuresDefine KPIs: kW/TR, Delta-T, COP, equipment uptime, IAQ indicesStakeholder Management:
Work directly with customers, facility operators, and energy teamsSupport pre-sales, solution design, and customer demosEngineering Collaboration:
Write crisp user stories and acceptance criteriaPrioritize backlog with clear business justificationCompetitive intelligence: understand where the market is heading and position Aqueduct accordinglyREQUIRED BACKGROUND
Strong domain knowledge in Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS)Deep understanding of HVAC systems, utility metering, and building energy optimizationExperience working directly with facility operators, energy managers, or asset ownersUnderstanding of digital twin concepts in building or infrastructure contexts:Familiarity with BIM, digital twin platforms, or smart building ecosystems is highly valuedAbility to define what good twin fidelity means for different operational use casesDemonstrated ability to write product requirements that engineering teams can act onPrior customer-facing experience: pre-sales, solution consulting, or account managementMANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Non-Negotiable: Prior experience in a customer-facing or commercial role. You must be able to present to facility directors, justify ROI, and handle technical objections. This is not a back-office role.
